Basketball South Australia is the peak body responsible for the development and promotion of basketball in our State.

Basketball South Australia is a member driven organisation where members and stakeholders work together to set the Strategic Foundations that guide the services and programs we provide. Our work is centred around four key values that ensure we act with integrity and in the best interest of the sport, support diversity and inclusion, celebrate achievement, and challenge the status quo.

About Basketball South Australia

Basketball South Australia is a not-for-profit organisation formed in 2006 following the dissolution of the Basketball Association of South Australia. The predominant function of Basketball South Australia is to deliver:

  • Development and promotion of the game through officiating, coaching, competition, and participation
  • Develop supporting frameworks, regulations, policies and by-laws
  • The provision of facilities for the sport of basketball
  • Representing South Australian basketball with other state, national and international sporting bodies

We do this through the execution of our key services including:

  • High Performance Pathway (player and coach)
  • Referee Development
  • Competition Management (District competition and Metro Social Basketball League)
  • Member support and advocacy
  • Stadium Management (5 stadiums)
  • Program Development

About Basketball Australia

Basketball Australia is the governing body for the sport of basketball in Australia and is responsible for Australian national teams, the Centre of Excellence, the WNBLNWBLnational junior championships and Aussie Hoops – Australian basketball’s official junior game development program. BA’s head office is in Melbourne, Victoria at the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South and the CEO is Matt Scriven, who has been in office since Mid 2021.
