To register as a Coach the following processes need to be completed and obtained: 
  • Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) (applicable to 14 years of age and over)
  • Play by the Rules online training courses
    • Child Protection
    • Harassment and Discrimination
  • Acknowledging Australian Sports Commission’s Coach’s Code of Ethics and Basketball SA Code of Conduct 
  • Provide a headshot photo in .jpeg format, with a width to length ratio of 2:3
  • Complete the Australian Sports Commission Online Community Coach Course
  • Register as a Coach on GameDay

Evidence of completion should be monitored by the club and uploaded to GameDay Central Database.

Working with Children Clearance must be provided every five (5) years. All other documents need only be provided once unless otherwise requested. Responsibility for ensuring this information is accurate and up to date lies with the club/association engaging the coach. 

Obtaining a Working with Children Check

You can contact your club/association to initiate an application on your behalf with Department of Human Services (DHS).

Alternatively, Basketball SA can initiate the process.

If preferred, an individual may initiate their own application at https://screening.sa.gov.au/applications/application-information-for-individuals and forward the outcome to the relevant organisation.

Verification of your identity will be required. If over 18, this can be done online with an Australian Passport or birth certificate and a drivers licence.

If you do not have these documents or are under 18, you will need to print the application and have your identity verified by a permitted verifierOnce complete, the application can be emailed to DHSScreeningUnit@sa.gov.au for assessment.
