The Basketball SA district competition is South Australia's elite representative basketball competition, involving male and female Junior (Under 10-Under 18), Youth League (Under 23) and Senior (open age) teams.

The competition includes two seasons - a summer season which runs from September to March and a winter season which runs from March to September.

Player Registration

It is a requirement of participation in the Basketball SA district competition that all players be registered with Basketball SA. This process allows Basketball SA to:

• monitor the age, gender and geographical profile of people playing the sport
• ensure adherence to age group criteria
• track movement between clubs

This registration must occur before a player plays their first game for a club, and players must be re-registered for every 12 month period ending on September 30.

To be able to register their players with Basketball SA, clubs require players to first register with the club. The process for doing this varies from club to club, but most clubs have a registration form which must be completed and submitted to the club secretary. If you are unsure of the registration process for your club please contact your club secretary. For a club to register a player with Basketball SA, the following information must be provided as a minimum:

• First Name
• Surname
• Date of Birth
• Gender
• Address

Clubs will generally request additional information, including:

• Home, work and mobile phone numbers
• Email address
• Parents names
• Birth certificate or proof-of-age

New players should ensure that they have provided this information to the club secretary before playing their first game for the club.
