Currently Basketball SA is working with other state bodies and Basketball Australia to develop a new Club and Association Manual aimed at providing essential information about running a club or association. It is our belief that in order for the sport of basketball to succeed it is vitally important that our clubs and associations are healthy operations that are providing a fulfilling experience to participants.
A framework is being developed based on key elements devised from a national development forum that are likely to include the following - starting, running, growing and sustaining a Club or Association. Topics will cover governance, planning, finance management, volunteer management, marketing and promotion, risk management, customer service and much more.
The manual will be quite comprehensive and will be supported by Basketball SA staff seeking to work with Clubs and Associations interested in evaluating their “health” and developing plans and strategies that will lead them into a stronger future. This shall be the basis of our Club and Association Development Program.
We aim to launch this program in the very near future, as it is a Key Objective of our 2007 – 2010 Strategic Plan.
In the meantime, Basketball SA strongly recommends utilisng the Club Development Network available online through the Australian Sports Commission.
We look forward to providing you more information on the progress of our new development program as it happens (keep your eye on our Headline News Stories).
