Olivia Thompson to represent Australia in Invitational

Olivia Thompson from Balaklava is one of four Australian Institute of Sport athletes
that have been selected to represent the country at the 1st Invitational 3x3 Youth World
Championships.  This event will be held from September 9 to 11 in Rimini, Italy.
Olivia is currently based at the Institute but has come through the SASI and state team
system and has also played for Forestville.  She will be joined by Tessa Lavey from
Victoria and Darcee Garbin from Western Australia when they compete against teams from
USA, Spain, Greece, China and Russia. Kristy Flores the Australian Institute Assistant
coach from New South Wales will coach the team.
  
This event is a new development by FIBA who are aiming for it to become an annual
event and  introduce the format in the 2020 Olympic Games.
