Waikerie Community Sports Centre will play host to a basketball bonanza on the first weekend of March 4 & 5 2017.
Three South Australian Premier League Clubs, Southern Tigers (Men’s defending champion), Central District Lions, and the Eastern Mavericks are to be joined by the Keilor Thunder (Melbourne based Big V club) and the best South Australian junior State teams (SA Country & SA Metropolitan) to compete in the inaugural 2017 Roundball River Rumble.
This year the Rumble will be held at the Waikerie Community Sports Centre. This is the first time an event of this nature has been held in a regional based location, so we are expecting some great highlights and 'above the rim' action over the course of the weekend.
The South Australia Premier League is the pinnacle competition run in this state outside of the NBL and WNBL. It is the competition that our juniors strive to play in, and it is the pathway that many great South Australian players, coaches and officials have starred in on their way to success in the national leagues and for our national teams.
Similarly the Big V Competition (Victoria), has the best from the garden state going at it each week over the winter. The U/18 State Junior teams (Country & Metropolitan) will use this tournament as preparation for the National U/18 Australian Championships to be held in Townsville, Queensland in April.
Basketball fans will be able to see up to 14 games of top quality basketball all in the one place over the two days. The big bonus is that families and supporters are able to make the trip to the Riverland as its only two hours from Adelaide.
