Basketball SA and the West Adelaide Basketball Club are pleased to announce that the Adelaide Thunder has secured a home venue for their games this season at Port Adelaide Recreation Centre.
After three years out of the league the club has re-emerged locating sponsors and a home venue. This will be the first time in the clubs history that they will play all games at one home venue.
“It is great to be working with Port Adelaide Recreation Centre and West Adelaide Bearcats to be able to secure a home venue for our NWBL return” said Jacob Gracey from DRSSA.
“Playing at one court for every game of the season is a massive boost to the team from previous seasons. We thank Port Adelaide Recreation Centre, West Adelaide and Basketball SA for their support and we are looking forward to a successful 2017. Disability Recreation and Sports SA would also like to thank West End Community Fund for making the return to the NWBL possible”.
West Adelaide has thrown their support towards the Thunder for the 2017 by organising triple header games which will see the National League team play prior to Women’s and Men’s games three times this season.
"It's great to see the Thunder back in the national competition and the West Adelaide Bearcats are very pleased to be involved," said West President Geoff Dodd.
"We are particularly looking forward to the three 'triple header' games with our Premier League teams, which coincide with the Thunder's first three home games of the season on June 3 and 4 and July 1. These will be great days for SA basketball and we encourage as many people as possible to get along and enjoy the basketball."
