Unfortunately we will be losing both our Communications and Marketing Manager, Sally Leverenz and our Competitions Manager, Michael Aylen in the next month.

Both Sally and Michael have been offered exciting new opportunities that have been too good to refuse.

Sally will be moving to KWP! Advertising as a Senior Business Manager where she will be involved with projects such as the Coopers Brewery campaign for the upcoming Australian Open tennis. Sally has been a fantastic addition to our team over the past 12 months helping to manage the Lightning over the last season, build Basketball SA’s social media presence and redevelop our new website. We’re going to miss Sally and we wish her all the best in her new role. Sally finishes with Basketball SA on 21 September and we have started working through a solution to fill this vacancy. We should be in a position to announce more next week.

A number of you may know by now that Michael Aylen is moving on to become one of the NBL’s first full time referees. The NBL is moving to continue to lift the stature of the league and the appointment of full time referees is one of these steps. This is a wonderful opportunity for Michael who has been offered one of the few positions on the NBL referee panel.

Michael has done a great job of managing the Premier League and District Basketball competitions for the past 12 months and really complemented and balanced our competitions staff.

Michael will be helping us through to the end of September (and maybe even a little into October) while we find his replacement.

While it’s disappointing to lose these two good staff, it’s heartening to at least recognise that they are of a quality that others find attractive to recruit. A half glass full approach…

We wish Michael and Sally all the best and we look forward to announcing  the names of those that will be joining our team to fill the vacancies in the near future.
