Basketball SA is excited to announce the appointment of Mr Phil Sinnott as its new Chief Executive Officer.

With over 20 years’ management experience in the sport and recreation industry, Phil comes to Basketball SA with proven skills at both strategic and operational levels.

In making the announcement, Basketball SA Chairman, Mark Lampshire, said “Phil’s experience and proven leadership as CEO of Squash SA and roles on State and National Industry Committees, demonstrated to the Board that he is the best person to lead the growth of Basketball SA into the future.”

“This is a challenging but exciting time for Basketball SA, and Phil will be a passionate advocate, working to grow participation, campaign for new facilities, and work closely with our clubs and the Commission to reach their full potential.

Phil has unique insights of the sporting industry landscape from grass roots to high performance structures, and what is required to enable a highly successful and engaging environment for our Clubs, athletes, coaches, and officials.”

Phil commented, “Having played basketball, I believe it is a fantastic sport with a strong following that can only grow. I look forward to joining the Basketball SA team, and building upon the great work of the former CEO Mark Hubbard, the BSA Commission, our members and stakeholders.

Basketball SA’s governance is well positioned with the new Commission appointments complementing an already skilled and dedicated executive team and staff.  I am confident we will continue to successfully deliver on the BSA vision and strategic objectives and maximise growth and development within the sport.

The Basketball SA team have worked extremely hard to create a positive image within the community for the sport. We will continue to focus on development of Sporting Hubs to ensure that facilities meet the growing participation demands so that anyone who wants to play has a place to play. Basketball SA’s membership is the lifeline of the sport and maintaining healthy and productive partnerships with our members and stakeholders is critical to further secure basketball as a flourishing and desirable sport.”

We welcome Phil who will commence with Basketball SA on 18 December 2017
