Basketball would not run successfully without the assistance of enthusiastic and competent officials

Becoming an official

Becoming a basketball referee or official can be a challenging but rewarding and Basketball SA is always looking to work with aspiring and current referees to guide them through the referee development pathway.

If you would like to become a referee or official (score table, stats), please contact your local stadium or association as the first point of contact. They will get you started on your referee or official journey and assist you with development at that local level. You will then be required to attend an official accreditation course to start learning the rules of the game and advance your knowledge of refereeing.

Alternatively, please contact Mike Gibson.
